Do you know who made your clothes?

In the past, I was a big fan of fast fashion and enjoyed my regular shopping trips with friends. Later on I even moved close to one of the biggest shopping streets in London (although that was not the reason why I moved to the area)! You can only imagine how heartbroken I was when I slowly started coming across more and more information that showed just how unethical and anything but sustainable fast fashion was.

Vegan Thanksgiving Ideas

Oh, what beautiful animals turkeys are. They are naturally curious, always checking out new sights and enjoy greeting visitors. People who care for them at sanctuaries even call them natural detectives. They are more than just food that people eat during specific time of the year. There is someone looking back when you look into their beautiful eyes and they deserve to be here just like you and I do. Did you know that their natural lifespan is up to 10 years, but they are killed when they are only 5 months old, if they live on factory farms? Read more about these beautiful creatures in PETA's article The Hidden Life Of Turkeys.

Why I Went Vegan

There are plenty of reasons why I decided to go vegan almost 3 years ago. Before that I was a vegetarian (for ethical reasons) for around 10 years, but it never occurred to me just how cruel the dairy and egg industries were. And then I stumbled upon this video/speech by Gary and it changed my life forever. For the better. Please watch and share with other people, it is important. Sit back, get a vegan snack and get your eyes and ears ready!

Where Does Leather Come From (powerful & non-graphic message)

This is such a good and an eye-opening video! I absolutely LOVE it when PETA UK spreads an important message without graphic content. I know, many people still need to see the reality, but personally I cannot handle seeing all those heartbreaking footages and images. I simply loose it and tears follow :/ This puts me in a state of “I just don't wanna deal with anything today, because everything is horrible.” This attitude does no good to anyone, specially not to the animals whose suffering I have just witnessed. That being said, I love the powerful messages presented in an informative yet not highly disturbing way. For this video titled Labels, Peta UK did just that.
Please watch the video bellow and share it with many, many people. We have things to change around here :)

p.s. appropriate for kids as well! :)

Here is to new beginnings!

As you have probably noticed, I haven't been updating my blog regularly lately. Life got pretty busy and during rare free days that I have, I like to work on my youtube channel. Being creative and spreading a positive (vegan) message in the form of videos makes me really happy. However, I have been missing spending more time on my blog and I am writing this to tell you that I am ready to get back on track :)
I have been reading quite a lot of things and have been getting inspired by many people and stories and I want to share some of them with you. Hopefully, they will help you and inspire you as well. Those moments, when you come across a message or a story that truly resonates with your state of mind, are precious and I love them! Hopefully, we can share some of those moments together. Things will get slightly different around here, but I hope you will enjoy them.

Thank you for keep coming back to this blog of my personal dreams about better world, even when I wasn't updating it as much as I should! :)

Now here is to new beginnings. Cheers!

School Life Hacks: Being Vegan

School life is already a quite an interesting experience, but once you tell people you are a vegetarian or even vegan, it can get really awkward. In this video I wanted to share some of my tips about how to deal with those situations. It is important to stay positive and not to let anyone bring you down. Your decisions and your values are important and you should be proud of what you stand for :)

REVIEW: Vegan Lipstick by Lippy Girl

Lippy Girl is not just another makeup brand, but rather a makeup movement, proving that animal testing, chemicals and animal additives are completely unnecessary for top quality makeup. These are the words that the brand chose to describe the story behind their products and I love them slightly more for doing that. I have been testing one of their lipsticks on myself for a few weeks now and here are my thoughts.

Vegan Food On A Budget ✯ Cheap & Healthy

Many people believe that vegan lifestyle is very expensive and not very affordable for an everyday foodie. Of course, some of the processed vegan food out there can be very expensive, but at the end of the day this lifestyle gets as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be.

Cruelty-free Bloggers Event At Gorilla Perfumes

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to attend an event for cruelty-free beauty bloggers that took place at the Gorilla Perfumes shop in London. It was lovely meeting all the bloggers and the Gorilla Perfumes team. They prepared a fun afternoon for us and we got a chance to smell different perfumes. The vast majority of them were vegan, while the rest were vegetarian, however, still cruelty-free.

The Benefits Of Being Vegan: 2 Years Update

Who'd think there are actually benefits that come along with this crazy lifestyle that is called veganism?! Well, let me tell you, there are plenty of them, however, today I will be focusing more on the vain side of the benefits that I have noticed with myself since going vegan 2 years ago (I have been vegetarian for over 10 years before that).

REVIEW: Neek - 100 % Natural and Vegan Lipstick

NEEK is a brand new company, which currently offers vegan and natural lipsticks. They are made in Australia and are never tested on animals. I like how the company gets this message across by simply saying: Neek is tested on sisters, not animals. They were kind enough to send me one of their lipsticks Whole Lotta Rosie. Check it out, ladies!

Becoming A Vegan: 5 Tips

My friend texted me the other day: "Girl, I am so happy you are not one of the annoying vegans. *** has been texting all over Facebook how mean everyone is for not going vegan and it is so annoying."
To be honest, I understand both sides. No one wants to listen to preachy people, but at the same time it is hard to stay quiet once you face the reality of the meat and dairy industry. So here are some of my thoughts, tips and things that I have learned since going vegan over two years ago.

How To Save Animals With Fashion: Tivydale

Recently, I received these beautiful sandals by Tivydale, a cruelty-free brand which uses only animal-friendly materials. Sadly, many people still believe that non-leather shoes can't be comfortable, however, that could not be further from the truth. I have been wearing these babies almost every day since I received them and I despised the days when the weather was too cold for me to put them on (*she said with a dramatic voice).

What I Wore * Animal Friendly Fashion

After some not so good days, I decided it was time to have fun and enjoy the sunny weather in London, because... Hell, I deserved it. In times like this I am so grateful for beautiful people in my life who tell me to stop for a moment and enjoy the present. So I did. Guess what, it was fun!;)

6 Vegan Products for THAT Time Of The Month

Whenever I feel THAT time of the month is approaching, I make sure I am ready as I can be with some of my favourite items that make me feel as comfortable as possible. As you may have noticed, I haven't been posting as much lately, which has to do with the fact that I was going through that time of the month WHILE looking for a new apartment and finally successfully moving out. With the loyal help of chocolate, some laughter and some tears I made it through (Yay!). So, here they are, some of my favourite items that helped me this time.

Animals Deserve Better

Yes, they do deserve better than being tested on. This nonsense has to stop! Animals feel fear and pain just like we do and there is no excuse as to why people should test on them. A great example is the BUAV Charitable and many others who support and fund non-animal tested research.

FLORAL WATER* Natural Pre-Moisturizer Review

Rose Floral Water Review
After coming across this floral water spritz, which I managed to purchase for a relatively low price thanks to pure luck, I was excited to test it out and write a review about it. The reason for that is I have a crush on these kind of spritzs (I am not sure this is how I was supposed to spell the word) and I also talked about one of them in my post 3 Natural Things That Helped Me Stay Concentrated. I truly love how water drops enriched with lovely (floral) scents wake you up and make you feel oh, so refreshed.

Cruelty-Free Lifestyle: Vegan Fashion Brands List

Here you can find some of the cruelty-free fashion brands, which will hopefully help you on your way to a kind lifestyle. This is just a first update and I will be updating the list on a weekly basics. High street stores offer a lot of animal-friendly options as well, but it is a pretty good thing to support companies that share our values. Am I right or am I right lads and gents? ;)

100% Vegan Beauty Brands - a mini guide

More and more people come to me with the same question: which brands are 100% cruelty-free and vegan? This makes me really happy and excited about the future, because I see how many people care and it is amazing! I have been planning on doing various lists to make your purchasing decisions easier (+ I am a list girl; I LOVE making lists!) so keep an eye on those, as I will be posting them in the following weeks. Until then, I decided to make a mini 100% vegan beauty brands list, which is suitable for everyone, especially for big animal lovers, vegetarians and vegans.

5 Affordable Cruelty-free Drugstore Products *UK version

I went on a little shopping spree the other day, decided to dig out some lovely cruelty-free and vegan beauty products in my local drugstores. It didn't surprised me at all when I realised the majority of my purchase came from Superdrug - a high street place to go, if you are looking for a cruelty-free products. You can easily find some animal-friendly brands there, you just need to make sure you ignore the bad ones, which still test on animals and are sadly also available in the store. BUT we know it better and we will rather go for the kind stuff, won't we ladies (and gentlemen)?! ;)

Easter Bunny Pancakes / Healthy and Delicious Vegan Version

Being a big fan of anything that has to do with Easter and pancakes, I thought I'd combine these two things and make super delicious and healthy vegan pancakes (with coconut ice cream, WHAT?!). I must admit, things did get a bit messy (and most of it I managed to hide so you guys can't see it), but here is the video of my mini recipe. I am not very good in the kitchen, I must say, but I am proud of these babies. Enjoy!

Favourite Vegan Energy Boosters

Every once in a while we all need our energy boosters to keep us going throughout the day. After several I am not leaving my bed today mornings in high school, I decided to face my morning laziness and started looking for some simple and somewhat natural energy boosters. Some of them are too simple, to be honest, however, they work and they kick me in the ass to let me know it is time to MOVE.

Friday, 13 March 2015

This week is all about being cruelty free and stop animal testing for cosmetic reasons. This issue is sadly still relevant in the 21st Century, however, we can all as individuals, do A LOT to stop it by doing small things. How good is that? :)

Do you want to know how you can become cruelty-free and help save the animals?
Make sure you watch my video down below by clicking on the photo and spread the message (and the video) with everyone. It is time we change things around here. Who is excited? I know I am :)

My Current Natural Hair Care Routine

As you already know, I am all about natural and cruelty-free products, which can also be seen in my hair care routine. However, I wasn't always like that. I pretty much destroyed my hair in the past; I experimented with various colours and I managed to literally burn my hair (thank you mrs. hairdresser, I can still remember the look on your face and a big OH SH*T in my head when the toxic smell and the smell of my burning hair hit my nose). After this unpleasant experience (AND a forever goodbye to a certain hairdresser), I became more careful, began with a hair treatment and started looking for natural ways to get my hair back. I simply wanted them NOT to look like straw anymore. So here I am, sharing my current hair care routine, which will hopefully help at least some of you who also had a pleasure to walk around with burned hair before.

WHY You Should Be Careful When Buying Lipstick

You and I, we get this. We know and understand the importance of lipstick and the feeling of pure satisfaction when your eyes see the one. THE perfect shade that is about to become the latest addition to your collection. 50 shades of red is not enough for a true lipstick lover (ok, I do not go that far when it comes to lipstick, but I thought the sentence was very original, I had to write it no matter how dorky you might find it), however, I must admit, I am not that big a fan of lipsticks after learning about some pretty WTF information about them, which I want to share with you.

BUT you know there is always a good side in my blog posts, which, again, I cannot wait to share with you (and which also made me fall back in love with the world of lipsticks - I am slowly getting there ladies and gentlemen).

6 Healthy Lifestyle Tips with Vegan Life Magazine

Whenever I get the Vegan Life Magazine in my hands on my computer, I get excited for the lovely read that is waiting for me. After reading the first two issues, I am comfortable knowing that the magazine will offer a lot of positivity and happiness, which I truly appreciate. The writers always manage to gently touch different areas and beautifully describe various personal stories.

I got a lot of good information about the detox and useful recipes in this issue that will thrill any food lover who would like to look on the healthier side of the meals.

PASTEL LOVE with La Couleur Couture Nail Polish

It is all about the pastel craziness these days and it took me awhile to go for it, but finally, I gave in. Whenever I visited Pinterest, Tumblr or any other similar social media websites the photos would scream:
So here I am finally (proudly) falling in love with this colour as well.

6 TIPS: HOW TO Spot an Animal Testing Company

Everyone enjoys a bit of pampering with various (beauty) products and no one wants other living beings to be harmed in order to receive the product. I am, of course, talking about animal testing, which, after getting familiar with it, I am strictly against. Sadly, the market is filled with high street brands that still test on animals in the 21st century and they are way more common than you would like to think.

However, the good news is (it is good that there is always a good part coming, isn't it? ;)) there are a few tricks that we can do in order to avoid the brands with low ethics and support (as I like to call them) the good brands. *you can see how much I like them; I even coloured the words in pink.

Staying Healthy on a Busy Schedule

Every once in a while I get caught in a busy schedule that barely lets me breathe and I am well aware that I am not the only one. You know that feeling, when the clock seems to have 5 minutes in an hour? Suddenly it is 11PM and you are wondering where the hell did the day go and why on earth half of the things on your daily TO DO list aren't ticked off? Yes? No?

Don't get me wrong; I don't want to complain. I actually like being busy, as it truly makes me happy. However, being a self proclaimed foodie, who constantly craves healthy food (yes, I am that lucky bastard that actually enjoys eating salads, cauliflower and raw cakes) I can get incredibly grumpy, if I don't consume my daily dose of good stuff.

Why I Don't Use Natural Hair Makeup Brushes

The answer is: I am against animal cruelty. Sadly, natural hair makeup brushes support just that; a cruel and anything but beautiful fur industry.

“Makeup brushes are commonly made from squirrel, mink, horse (sometimes called “pony” or “camel”), or goat hair.”

“Every year, millions of animals are trapped, drowned, and beaten to death and strangled, electrocuted, or beaten and skinned alive on fur farms.”

I don't want to go into too much details as it breaks my heart even writing about it and I can't imagine the pain these poor creatures have to go through in order for us to buy natural hair makeup brushes.

The good news:
We can all as individuals do something about it:
1. Start using makeup brushes with synthetic bristles instead of the not nice ones mentioned above (Yay!).
2. Write to your favourite makeup companies that still use real animal hair in their brushes asking them to switch to cruelty-free ones.
3. Share the information about the cruel industry with your friends and other people, as many of them aren't aware of it.
4. Think twice when someone recommends to you brushes with animal fur or tries to sell them to you and ask yourself: is this something I am willing to financially support with my own money?

What do you think about this issue? Do you prefer cruelty-free brushes as well? If yes, which are your favourite brands?

Vegan & Organic Eyeliner? Yes, please!

A few months ago I attended VegfestUK London, which took place in London Olympia. I was happily surprised by the number of people, who attended the 2 days long event. Thanks to the big crowd, it was quite hard to move around and I had to wait quite a long time to try food and other vegan products offered on different stalls. This didn't bother me at all, however, as I was incredibly happy to see that there are so many people interested in the cruelty-free and vegan lifestyle. I am sure animals were happy as well :)
