Happy Halloween: A Fair Trade Cat Dress

Shout out to all the cats out there. The real ones AND the Halloween ones :)

This lovely dress that I am wearing is from People Tree; a brand that sells amazing Fair Trade clothes. They help artisans and farmers help themselves by using their traditional skills. They support organic agriculture and producing by hand, which reduces CO2 emissions and help protect our lovely planet.

Facing your fears

After receiving some emails from you guys saying that I should start making youtube videos, I hid myself under the bed. This is because putting myself out there seems quite scary to me, but after talking to some of you, I decided to face my fears (and come out from under the bed). This is also what I decided to talk about in my first video.

I really hope you enjoy it! Feel free to tell me what you think and maybe even like and subscribe ;) Also, you can share the video with your friends and other lovely people x

Monday Munchies: Raw cakes by Inspiral

Being a vegan, I sometimes receive questions similar to “What do you eat then?” Let me tell you, I eat A LOT. My never ending love for food is one of the main reasons why I also love food shopping, however, I am not very patient when it comes to clothes shopping (buying clothes online is how I normally roll). I am quite lucky, because I don't crave sweet things too often, but when I do, I often go for raw desserts. The Raw Vanilla Berry Tart by Inspiral is one of my favourites. It is so fresh yet sweet with an amazing gooey bottom layer. Ah, heaven! My boyfriend went for the Raw Tiramisu Cake the other day, which is also very good, but it can't beat my love for the Vanilla Berry Tart.

Lily Lolo Love

I found it! Everyone, I found my (so far) favourite mineral foundation! I am really excited to be able to say that, because it took me a long time to find it. There are a lot of cruelty-free foundations out there, but I wanted to get one that is not too expensive (as I am already successful at spending a bit too much money on quality products - my second name is quality over quantity) yet still a very good quality and one that obviously suits my skin. My boyfriend and I decided to walk 6 miles through Hyde Park to Belgravia where Mr. Google told me I could personally buy this product; as I do not like buying makeup over the internet (maybe eyeshadow, but definitely not foundation). Getting fit and shopping at the same time - not too bad! It was a lovely walk, however, when we finally arrived at the shop; the lady wasn't very helpful, but I still decided to go home with this Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation SPF15. My skin is quite light so I decided to go for the Barely Buff shade.

About a cruelty-free lifestyle

*I need to get this out of me*
In the past few days I came across a news report which says that veganism and vegetarianism are not healthy for people. It was all put together as a joke; the debate was about veg peoples' sperm being not as good as meat eaters' sperm. They were also making fun of veg lifestyle as a whole, however, I loved the end of the report where they asked people on the street whether they were vegan and if they had any children. Most of them were just making fun. One man, however, admitted to have been vegan for over 20 years with 13 children. That made me smile bananas :)  P.S. - isn't India one of the most populated countries in the world with almost half of them being vegetarian?

I don't like it when some try to show veganism or vegetarianism in a negative way. I believe it is a beautiful thing; being a voice for the voiceless. It is important to speak up against the meat, fur, leather and even dairy industry, because they are cruel to animals who did no harm to anyone.

These industries break animals' bones, they let them live in the smallest cages possible for years until they are killed. Animals are denied the opportunity to raise their young, feel the sun on their faces and breathe fresh air. Imagine being forced to live crowded together by the thousands on factory farms. Many chickens have their beaks cut off with a hot blade when they are just a few weeks old; piglets have their tails chopped off and their teeth clipped with pliers, male calves are castrated with tight bands around their testicles (without the use of any painkillers - which costs money and makes less profit). I'm definitely sure you will agree that this is not kind to animals. They are such beautiful and kind creatures and I think they deserve way more love and respect from us.

More and more people are deciding to do something about these horrible industries; some of them decide to stop supporting the cruelty in the fashion industry (they do not buy fur, leather, wool and silk), the beauty industry (they use products that are not tested on animals, products that are labeled with vegetarian and vegan certificates). There is also an incredibly fast growing number of people who ditch meat and dairy products from their menus. All because they want to help animals, the environment and/or want to improve their health. This is wonderful news, but not everyone likes it. That's why there are some who are trying to spread negative thoughts about veganism. Please just listen to your heart the next time you are thinking of buying a dead animal and to try and neglect the criticism such as people quoting studies and the like... The point is to not blindly follow what people say but rather to do your own research and to follow what you believe is true and right. This is a step by step process and every decision matters. This is why it is important to not just think about it and say “Wow, you are a vegan, that's great! I could never do it myself though.” I hear that a lot. Please, just try. Be the change you want to see in the world x

We can do this together. I believe in us :)

Friday Favourites

Weekend is almost here and I decided to write Friday Favorites again. I had a lot of fun this week and wanted to share a few bits and bobs that brightened my week with you guys.

Favourite Thoughts by May The Thoughts Be With You
I met the lovely creator of May The Thoughts Be With You in Portobello Market the other day and I purchased her book, which is filled with cute designs and lovely quotes just like “The Bee of Tranquility”. I read a few quotes every day, mostly just before I go to bed and I love it! It makes me fall asleep with a smile on my face :)

Favourite shoes by Katz & Birds

Katz & Birds is a very talented designer who only uses cruelty-free materials in her products. I love all the details and these foxes are one of my favourite. Pretty, pretty for autumn days.

Favourite News by Peta India: India Bans Import of Animal-Tested Cosmetics
Quote from the page: “The Indian Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has made an announcement that will save millions of animals from being blinded, poisoned and killed in cruel and useless tests for products sold to India’s billion-plus population. In a move that will bring cheers from around the world, the Ministry has now officially banned animal-tested cosmetics from being imported into India. The decision will be implemented in November.” Woop, woop! :)

Favourite recipe by Kalel

Lovely Kalel started her new Youtube channel and I instantly fell in love with this recipe - Healthy  Artichoke Alfredo (vegan). I strongly recommend you try it.

What are your Friday Favorites? Feel free to share them with me :)

Pacifica Perfume: Island Vanilla

Pacifica perfumes have been on my “to buy” list for a while and my heart jumped the other day when I got Island Vanilla as a present. Say what?! It is my favourite scent and I am wearing it as I am writing this post. I would love to eat it (I say that about too many products, don't I...), but luckily I know it better. Being bad at describing scents, I decided to rather write the official description on the packaging, which says: Tahitian vanilla, loved for its fruity and slightly floral aroma, is anchored with rich bourbon vanilla notes. If you are like me and not sure about ordering perfumes online, you can find these perfumes in Planet Organic or Whole Foods Market. That's where I smelled the whole collection and I must admit that some of them really weren't my cup of tea, but I did fall in love with two other sweet scents.

INGREDIENTS: alcohol denat (natural grain), parfum (Pacifica's own blend of essential oils contains: d-limonene), aqua.

Pacifica perfumes are made in the USA, they are without parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol and they are vegan :) Portion of proceeds also supports clean water. I was not aware of that until I got the perfume and read the packaging. I will probably look for more products from this brand from now on, because I love supporting companies, which do good for the planet as well.

Also, I love, love the packaging - pretty and elegant white and pink colours with a floral design. Island Vanilla (btw, don't you just feel like you are on an island somewhere in the middle of paradise when saying the name?) has 10ml, which I love, because I can put it in my cabin baggage when flying.

You can buy this lovely product HERE
Do you know Pacifica? What do you think about it?

Monkee Genes

Monkee Genes - what a great name! I have a soft spot for original and interesting names and that was one of the main reasons I instantly fell in love with this brand. Not to mention these jeans have bananas on their buttons, which I eat almost every day (bananas, not buttons). I have been checking out Monkee Genes for a while and I finally purchased them a few days ago in a cruelty-free shop The Third Estate near Camden Town. I got Bamboo Classic Skinny and they are super comfortable. The brand is PETA approved and does not support slave labour or child labour. In other words: No blood, no sweat, no tears. What a great message!

While trying to pose, an older lady walked by and asked: Are you taking the photos of the patch? You are covering it a bit. Here, let me help you. And she fixed my jacket, wished us a good day and walked away down the road. Thank you, kind stranger! :)

The rest of my clothes: Blazer - Top Shop, Non-leather Shoes - Top Shop, Shirt - Old School, Bag - Borrowed from my sister, but don't tell her, necklace - handmade, most comfortable bamboo socks ever.

Do you have any Monkee Genes in your closet? What do you think about them?

Soft lips with HurRAW lip balm

Winter is just around the corner and I decided to purchase a lip balm that will keep my lips from getting dry. Luckily, I normally don't have a problem with dry lips and I was basically just looking for an excuse to get this divine smelling product by Hurraw. It smells like black cherry, which makes me want to eat it constantly. I wish I could somehow include the smell in this post so you could enjoy it with me. Besides making a party for my nose, this lip balm is also a very good moisturiser and I love its consistency - it makes my lips incredibly soft. The ingredients are amazing: sweet almond oil, candelilla wax, coconut oil, jojoba seed oil, cocoa seed butter, castor seed oil, olive fruit oil, organic flavours and vitamin e. It is raw (hurRAW!), vegan and organic. The lip balm is cold pressed and it is recommended that it is kept in a place with a normal temperature (between 4 and 22 Celsius). Probably one of the best things you can get for your lips these days. I would definitely recommend it.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to subscribe by email or check my social media pages, if you liked the post.

You can get this lovely product HERE

Have a lovely day you guys x

Snacking in bed on Graze

Once a week the postman delivers a lovely surprise Graze; a snack box. It is always fun opening, and seeing what snacks we have got. If you haven't heard of it before, here is how it works:
 1. You go to their website Graze and choose the snacks you like
 2. They hand pick a box for you with 4 different snacks
 3. The box gets delivered to your home or work
 4. Bon apetit!

Once you create an account with them, you can choose your dietary preferences i.e. vegetarian snacks, vegan snacks, snacks that don't contain gluten etc. Graze is not a meat-free brand, but you can easily make your box veggy or gluten free (I like gluten though!:) ) etc.

Let me just say that this is not a PR placement in anyway (actually, none of my posts have been unless stated otherwise), I simply wanted to share the tiny joy we get once a week with this box. Sometimes the box has a lot of vegetarian snacks, which I avoid and I leave my boyfriend to munch on, but I do get my lovely vegan snacks as well. So it is a yumm yumm situation for the both of us.

Dried mango, pineapple and raisins. SO GOOD!
Lemon cake with tea. How cute is that?
Cake and tea served properly. It does look pretty, doesn't it :)

Do you know Graze? What do you think about it?

Lush: Hottie Massage Bar

Was pleasantly surprised when I received this bar from my friends. It smells amazing, like most Lush products do. It is perfect for spoiling ourselves with massages during these cooler days. I like to be pampered every now and then (my boyfriend said I am incorrect and that I should write I like being pampered every day instead ;)) and the Hottie Massage Bar is the perfect tool for spoiling yourself. I am lucky enough that I don't have pain in my muscles, but I heard a lot of people who have to deal with this problem use this bar and it makes their muscles less tense.

For me, it is not only the smell and the feeling it leaves on the skin, but also the ingredients used in the product. I really like that the main ingredient, which is organic cocoa butter is fair trade. Other ingredients sound pretty great as well such as shea butter, organic jojoba oil, ginger, black pepper oil etc. This bar is basically perfect for people who like “clean” ingredients and also for those who use cruelty-free products.

Do you like massages as well? What do you normally use? x

My Trip To Brighton

Missing the smell of the ocean and sunny weather, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Brighton this week. It was great; the weather was amazing - the locals said it is not usually this nice so I guess we were really lucky (or maybe it was us who brought the sun ;) ). Being a vegan, I was a bit worried about eating out, because I wasn't sure what Brighton had to offer. We checked the Happy Cow website and I was happy to see that there are quite a few restaurants that offer cruelty free menus. But once we arrived, I was even more surprised, because the options were countless - veg options were available pretty much on every single corner. When I came back home my scale confirmed that I ate a bit too much, but oh well. It happens :)

Our beautiful and comfy bed

Enjoying the sun and listening to seagulls

Meal nr. 1
Meal nr. 2

After eating my first meal at a vegan restaurant Loving Hut, I was still hungry so we ordered another meal. Hello calories! I am normally not so much into vegan junk food, but wow, this was good! My boyfriend even thought for a second that we were eating a real meat (I had no idea; I forgot the taste of it since it has been over ten years when I last ate it).

Pretty words at Loving Hut restaurant
More pretty words on the bench

“Turn to the sun and let shadows fall behind you.”

More good food at VBites - although we both agreed Loving Hut was our favorite

See you soon Brighton! I am definitely coming back again x
